About NaPTIMFS
NaPTIMFS is a combination of NapTAN (stopping places), PTIMS (stop infrastructure) and GTFS (route information). The name is a portmanteau of the three data sources it merges: NaPTan, PTIMS and GTFS.
Data Sources
All source datasets (NaPTAN, GTFS, and PTIMS) are available for download from Transport for Ireland's data page and are made available under the CC BY 4.0 license.
Data Integration
The database integrates these sources by matching on AtcoCode Additional calculated fields include:
- Meters_Between_NaPTAN_PTIMS - Haversine distance between coordinate sets (mean: 16.0m)
- PTIMS_* - 37 infrastructure columns prefixed for clarity
- GTFS_Routes - Pipe-separated list of bus routes serving each stop
- Spatial Analysis - Administrative boundaries, urban classification, and transport infrastructure proximity:
- Local Electoral Area & County from CSO Small Areas
- Urban Area classification with 500m buffer
- National road proximity analysis (10m buffer)
